In Washington, lawmakers in the House and Senate passed a bill to extend the payroll tax cut, Medicare payments and unemployment benefits for 10 months. The Friday vote comes after months of negotiations. But many lawmakers are criticizing the deal for cutting the benefits of federal workers, and making controversial changes to services for the unemployed.
