Documentary for Friday, January 1, 2010 - One Voice at a Time: Reconciliation in the Middle East
Fri, 01/01/2010 - 11:00
Today we bring you a special program, One Voice at a Time: Reconciliation in the Middle East. After decades of conflict in the region, thousands of lives lost and a series of failed peace negotiations, some Israelis and Palestinians are creating their own path toward peace. On this New Year's Day, we'll introduce you to two people who've traveled a long way on their journey toward reconciliation.
Robi Damelin and Mazen Faraj have each had a family member killed in the conflict. For one, it was a father. For the other, a son. The experience set them on unusual paths toward peace together. In December, Mazen and Robi visited New York as part of the event, Cartoons in Conflict: Editorial Cartoonists Explore the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict, an exhibit presented by Parents Circle Family Forum and No Longer Empty.
They sat down with FSRN at the WBAI studios for an intimate conversation that traveled down the long, difficult and hopeful path toward reconciliation.

There is no place in the
There is no place in the world that has the profile of the Middle East, constantly in the news and constantly the scene of war. Yet amidst the tragedy of the region there are very few places that have such wonderful people. The people of the Middle East are open, loving and direct. I love the people of this region and so do we as an organization. This includes all people in the region: Israelis and Palestinians, Jews, Christians and Muslims.
