Competing rallies were held in Lower Manhattan yesterday, over the proposed Islamic Cultural Center to be constructed two blocks from the site of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The issue was thrust into the national spotlight several weeks ago after right-wing blogger Pamela Geller branded the facility the “ground zero mosque."
