Families in Kashmir press for investigation into disappeared relatives

In Kashmir hundreds of people staged a sit-in to call for a full investigation into relatives who have gone missing. Today marks the UN International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances and the protesters gathered in Srinagar, the capital of Indian-Administered Kashmir, to protest what they called the government’s failure to act. The State Human Right Commission has acknowledged the presence of a large number of unmarked graves containing unidentified bodies. Authorities claim the bodies are of militants killed in gunfights but rights activists say the unmarked graves could contain bodies of many of the Kashmir's disappeared people.
