Legal battles take fight over voter ID laws closer to election day

With the election just 12 weeks away, federal and state courts across the country are scrambling to resolve legal battles over voter ID laws in a number of states. Opponents say the laws could suppress turnout, including in key battleground districts, and disproportionately affect people of color, the elderly, students and low-income voters.
