Jim Kent Bio

Jim Kent is a freelance writer and radio journalist who lives in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He can be heard on Free Speech Radio News, Voice of America Radio, National Public Radio, South Dakota Public Radio, Nebraska Public Radio, National Native News Radio, and A.A.R.P Radio.
A recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award for a radio news series, Jim is a current columnist for the Rapid City Journal and the Lakota Country Times, a guest columnist for Indian Country Today, and is former editor of The New Lakota Times. His commentaries have appeared in U.S. News & World Report, the Bergen Record (NJ), the Star Ledger (NJ), Suburban Trends (NJ) the New York Daily News, the New York Post, the Roanoke Times (VA), the Sterling Daily Gazette (IL), the Lewiston Tribune (ID), The Observer (OR) and American Heritage Magazine.
He has also worked as an interviewer for the recent CBS-TV animated series, Creature Comforts, studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City and worked in film, television and theatre. Jim is a former United States Marine and corporate security director.
