Jacob ResneckAs the U.S. Independence Day holiday approaches, it’s time to give thanks for independence across the board. That means independent bookstores, grocery markets, coffee houses and of course your independent media.

Free Speech Radio News has had many challenges but its strength lies in its total editorial independence from sponsorship or parent organizations.

As a freelancer, I’m given opportunities to cover social movements and issues at home and in far-flung places in ways the mainstream can’t – or won’t – touch. The editors at FSRN encourage us reporters to go to the heart of the matter and explain things at a level of detail many outlets prefer to gloss over.

Now comes the pitch: If you’ve found yourself turning up your radio a little louder during our show, or sharing a link to a favorite story, you now have the chance to give a little something back and keep us going.

Please take the time to make a donation no matter how small it may seem to you. Because our independence relies on our listeners and we will continue to pump out story after story as long as we have your support.
