Pakistani drone victim abducted ahead of European speaking engagements
A Pakistani freelance journalist and drone victim who was slated to travel to Europe this week to speak before three national parliaments is missing. Witnesses say armed men – some of them in police uniforms – took Kareem Khan from his home in the early hours of February 5th without explanation. Pakistani authorities deny knowledge of his whereabouts. As a journalist, Khan covered War on Terror stories in North Waziristan. He began documenting the effects of drone strikes in particular after one such attack killed two of his own family members. Islamabad-based human rights attorney Shahzad Akbar spoke to FSRN about Kareem Khan’s case and recent disappearance.
